ONGC shines at L&D Elysium 2021, bags four awards
Energy Maharatna ONGC dominated the Award Ceremony of the L&D Elysium 2021 - Learning and Development Summit on 20 February 2021, bagging four awards in organization and individual categories. In the organization category, the energy major was conferred with ‘Diversity and Inclusive Champion Award’, which was received by ONGC Director (HR) Dr Alka Mittal at the concluding session of the L&D Elysium 2021 - Learning and Development Summit. The award came to ONGC for its efforts towards supporting diversity in workforce.

The five-day event was presented by Ashis Sen Consulting and Coaching and Indian Institute of Public Administration from 16 February to 20 February 2021. The awards were distributed during the ‘Award Ceremony’ session on the last day of the event.
Receiving the award on behalf of ONGC, Dr Alka Mittal said ONGC tries to be as inclusive and open to diversity as possible right from the initial stages. She said the energy major’s efforts towards diversity and inclusion is responsible for the increasing number of women working in remote oil-fields of the organization. “This award belongs to the girls of our great organization, who have worked shoulder to shoulder with their male colleagues even in harsh offshore platforms on the high seas for energy security of the nation”.

“We feel proud of them. The award is for them. The girls who are working in the field during the COVID-19 situation, working at length continuously offshore for 70 days or onshore fields away from family but as determined as their male colleagues to ensure they make a difference to the nation and the business of the organization.” Dr Mittal also thanked everyone for recognizing ONGC’s efforts and said that she is proud of the organization and her team.
Commending ONGC and Director (HR) for the achievement, Indian Institute of Public Administration Director General SN Tripathi dedicated a verse to Dr Alka Mittal. “Dhool Jaise Kadam Se Milti hai, Zindgi Roz Humse Milti hai. Aaj Duniya mei Aise Kitne hain, Jinko Shohrat Kadam Se Milti Hai,” he said.

Director (HR) Dr Alka Mittal was also recognized for her outstanding contribution which made a real difference in terms of best practices, innovation and excellence in learning and development. She was awarded with the ‘Leadership of the Year Award’ in the individual category. Dr Mittal thanked the organizers for this what she termed as a ‘Surpise’; “I feel it is all about the team we have with us. We take all the credit, but the work is done by them. I am definitely there with them always and I feel proud that you have recognized us. It is difficult not to blush.” she said in her characteristic witty note.

During the event, ONGC Chief General Manager (HR) Divya Capoor was awarded with “Work on Transformational Leadership” award for her exceptional contribution in having a long term uplifting impact through dedication and expertise, equipping people with best tools to enhance their capabilities. Receiving the award, Ms Capoor said she was honored and dedicated it to her organization.

Recognizing his contribution in driving the organization to achieve overall excellence, Chief General Manager (HR) Shashi Rajan was conferred with “Excellence in Training and HR Practices” award.

The first two days of the event were dedicated to Paper Presentation, during which several participants presented their research and experiences on the matters related to Learning and Development in the corporate eco-system. The Paper Presentation was followed by a three-day Summit and Award function. Several conferences and talks were hosted during this session. Globally-reputed speakers in the Learning and leadership field participated and presented their experiences during the evet, which was organized in a professional and timely manner. The deliberations was organized with an aim to promote and encourage organizational Learning and the role of learning and development (L&D) in organizations.
