Samvidhan Divas or Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. The Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India on 26 November 1949 and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. However, the Government declared 26 November as Constitution Day in 2015, on 125th the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. Dr BR Ambedkar chaired the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly and played a pivotal role in the drafting of the constitution.
