Satyan Kumar takes charge as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), ONGC
Mr. Satyan Kumar has taken charge as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), ONGC, with effect from 29 May 2026.

A seasoned energy sector professional with over 36 years of experience across the oil and gas value chain, Mr. Kumar brings with him wide-ranging exposure to upstream operations, engineering, project management, business development, corporate strategy, petrochemicals and renewable energy.
As Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), Mr. Kumar will provide strategic leadership and oversight in areas that are central to ONGC’s long-term growth, including corporate strategy, business development, diversification, joint-venture operations, stakeholder engagement and the company’s expanding role in renewable and sustainable energy.
An Electrical Engineering graduate from Dayalbagh Educational Institution, Agra, Mr. Kumar also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from MDI Gurgaon. He has undergone advanced leadership training at ESCP-EAP, France, and has been part of DAKSH, the Government of India’s capability-building program for CPSE leaders.
Before assuming charge as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs), Mr. Kumar served as Executive Director – Chief Corporate Strategy. In this role, he played a key role in shaping ONGC’s long-term strategic roadmap, including its diversification into petrochemicals, LNG and green energy. He also contributed to innovation-led growth through venture investments in startups.
Mr. Kumar has held several important assignments across ONGC, spanning engineering services, operations, marketing, business development and corporate strategy. He has led and delivered critical infrastructure and business development projects, including captive power plants at Uran, OPaL and Hazira, the 103-km Hazira–Dahej naphtha pipeline, and ONGC’s first 15 MW utility-scale solar project.
He has also been closely associated with ONGC’s initiatives in the renewable energy space. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of ONGC Tripura Power Company and serves on the Boards of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, OGL One Limited and Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited.
Known for his strategic vision, execution focus, capital discipline and deep understanding of the E&P value chain, Mr. Kumar has been actively involved in ONGC’s efforts to build a balanced and future-ready energy portfolio. His experience across conventional energy, petrochemicals and emerging green energy domains is expected to support ONGC’s continuing journey as an integrated energy company aligned with India’s evolving energy priorities.
The Strategy & Corporate Affairs function assumes significance at a time when ONGC is pursuing growth across its core E&P business while preparing for opportunities in new and sustainable energy domains. Mr. Kumar’s appointment brings focused leadership to this important area, supporting ONGC’s vision of long-term value creation, energy security and responsible growth.
