AIMA confers Fellowship on ONGC Director (HR) Dr. A K Balyan

Dr. Ashok Kumar Balyan, Director (Human Resource) of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC), has been conferred Fellowship by the All India Management Association (AIMA), at its 11th Convocation held on 5th August 2006 at New Delhi.

The certificate of Fellowship was handed over to Dr. Balyan by the President of AIMA Mr. Sudhir Jalan.

AIMA confers this fellowship to outstanding management professionals who have made a mark in the industry. Dr. Balyan was chosen for significant contribution to management in the Oil and Gas sector in India.

An M-Tech from IIT and Ph.D from Germany, Dr. Balyan has an illustrious career spanning over three decades in India's Most Valuable Company ONGC. Before rising to the position of Director (HR) in 2003, he spearheaded the company's ventures in Coal Bed Methane (CBM) in eastern India.

He is also the Director in-charge of Business Development and Infocom of ONGC; his tenure saw ONGC achieving significant milestones in developing IT infrastructure and advancing business areas. Apart from ONGC, he is also on Board of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) and ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL).

Delivering the convocation address, the Chief Guest on the occasion Mr. Priyaranjan Dasmunshi, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, commended the Human Resource initiatives of ONGC for their all-out efforts to prepare human capital to manage the Oil and Gas needs of the country, today and tomorrow.

All India Management Association (AIMA) is one of the premier Management Institutes of the country, credited to have pioneered distance education in Management way back in 1976.
