Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has been conferred with the FICCI Annual Award 2008-2009 for “Outstanding Corporate Vision-Business Performance, Social and Environmental Action and Globalisation”. Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon’ble Finance Minister handed over the award to Shri R. S. Sharma, CMD ONGC at the inaugural session of the FICCI Annual General Meeting at New Delhi today.

ONGC received an amount of Rs. 2.45 crore from Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd. (PHHL) towards dividend payment for FY 2008-09 on Jan 18,2010 in New Delhi. Pawan Hans has an Equity Capital of Rs. 113.76 crores with ONGC equity aggregating to Rs. 24.50 crores (21.5%) and GOI equity of Rs. 89.26 crores (78.5%).

Committed towards its corporate social policy with focus on Education - especially girl child and Health, ONGC has extended a helping hand to "Asahaya Baal Ashram" under Child Old Blind Home Welfare Society, an orphanage situated at Nagloi district, in the outskirts of Delhi.

The New Year for ONGC executives at Delhi began on a pleasant as well as a serious note with a informal and informative interaction with Mr R S Sharma, CMD ONGC, other members of the Board and senior executives.

ONGC Board of Directors has approved an interim dividend payout of 180% for the FY 2009-10. This amounts to Rs 18 per equity share, aggregating to Rs 3,850 crore, on a paid up equity capital of Rs. 2,138.87 crore comprising of 213.89 crore shares of Rs. 10 each.

ONGC has taken a noble initiative for educating jail inmates of Dehradun district jail. ONGC has donated an amount of Rs.1,82,850/- to the Dehradun District jail for education of jail inmates. The Jail authorities will utilize the donated amount for upgradation of educational qualification of the jail inmates through courses run by National Institute of Open School (NIOS) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). As many as 113 jail inmates will be benefited by this noble gesture of ONGC.

Pursuant to protracted discussions with M/s Sistema, a leading diversified industrial group of Russia having investments in India, OVL entered into a Non-Exclusive Memorandum of Understanding to explore the possibilities of jointly studying, and if mutually agreed, to participate in attractive oil and gas assets in Russia and third countries.

ONGC/OVL, in association with Hinduja Group & Petronet LNG have entered into two broad enabling Agreements with Iranian authorities on Tuesday, the 1st December, 2009, for participation in development of gas fields and liquification facilities in Iran, in return for assured minimum 6 million tonne LNG per annum on long term basis.

A Report on “Road map to develop Underground Coal Gasification technology in India” was presented to Mr. R S Pandey, Petroleum Secretary, on 1st December, 2009 by Mr. A K Hazarika, Director(Onshore), ONGC and Mr. K C Goel, author of the Report.

ONGC, Hazira Plant received the prestigious ‘Commendation for Strong Commitment’ among independent units for the year 2009 at the CII – ITC Sustainability Awards presentation ceremony as part of the 4th Sustainability Summit: Asia 2009 here in the capital on 26 November, 2009.

ONGC in its recently held EC meeting has decided to implement Rain Water Harvesting in all the existing Residential Complexes of ONGC, across the Country. As a Policy, ONGC has made it mandatory to implement the system of "Rainwater Harvesting" in all the future Projects (new constructions) also.

Satpayev Exploration block is located in a hydrocarbon prolific region of North Caspian Sea at a water depth of 5 to 10 metres, 100 km to the South Western coast of Kazakhstan. ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) has been pursuing exploration opportunities in Kazakhstan and Satpayev block was identified by OVL and KazMunayGas(KMG), National oil company of Kazakhstan for joint exploration as a result of MOU signed by both the companies. However, Mittal Investment Sarl (MIS) later joined the project and the same was brought in to the fold of ONGC Mittal Energy Limited (OMEL), a joint venture between MIS and OVL.

There are reports in the electronic and print media since 13th November, 2009 to the effect that Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG) has proposed to increase the price of APM gas being produced by the National Oil Companies (NOCs) - ONGC and Oil India Limited (OIL). Since this is a price sensitive information for a listed company, ONGC management would like to provide following clarifications:
