ONGC has taken a noble initiative for educating jail inmates of Dehradun district jail. ONGC has donated an amount of Rs.1,82,850/- to the Dehradun District jail for education of jail inmates. The Jail authorities will utilize the donated amount for upgradation of educational qualification of the jail inmates through courses run by National Institute of Open School (NIOS) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). As many as 113 jail inmates will be benefited by this noble gesture of ONGC.

Pursuant to protracted discussions with M/s Sistema, a leading diversified industrial group of Russia having investments in India, OVL entered into a Non-Exclusive Memorandum of Understanding to explore the possibilities of jointly studying, and if mutually agreed, to participate in attractive oil and gas assets in Russia and third countries.

ONGC/OVL, in association with Hinduja Group & Petronet LNG have entered into two broad enabling Agreements with Iranian authorities on Tuesday, the 1st December, 2009, for participation in development of gas fields and liquification facilities in Iran, in return for assured minimum 6 million tonne LNG per annum on long term basis.

Satpayev Exploration block is located in a hydrocarbon prolific region of North Caspian Sea at a water depth of 5 to 10 metres, 100 km to the South Western coast of Kazakhstan. ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) has been pursuing exploration opportunities in Kazakhstan and Satpayev block was identified by OVL and KazMunayGas(KMG), National oil company of Kazakhstan for joint exploration as a result of MOU signed by both the companies. However, Mittal Investment Sarl (MIS) later joined the project and the same was brought in to the fold of ONGC Mittal Energy Limited (OMEL), a joint venture between MIS and OVL.

There are reports in the electronic and print media since 13th November, 2009 to the effect that Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG) has proposed to increase the price of APM gas being produced by the National Oil Companies (NOCs) - ONGC and Oil India Limited (OIL). Since this is a price sensitive information for a listed company, ONGC management would like to provide following clarifications:

The latest feather in the cap is the registration of the fifth Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on September 22, 2009. The 29,000 tonne parcel of 'Mangala' crude from Cairn Energy India Ltd was received by the ONGC's mini ratna subsidiary Mangalore refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) at their jetty at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) today. The 208,000 barrels or 29,000-tons parcel of crude from the Cairn's Mangala Field in the Barmer Dist fields was transported by road to Kandla Port at Gujarat and loaded on COUGAR (tanker), captained by Sashay and his Ukeranain crew and brought to NMPT Mangalore.

Mangalore, 6th October 2009. Post the call for help to Corporates and people of Dakshin Kannada made by District Administration Mangalore yesterday evening, Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL), a mini ratna ONGC group company based in Dakshin Kannada, stepped up with Rupees fifty lakh for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (calamities), GoK. This amount is besides the one-day salary being voluntarily donated by the 1400 strong employees of MRPL and the consignments of clothes and materials Team MRPL has collected for their suffering brethren.

The Shareholders of MRPL in its 21st AGM held today at Mangalore approved the Accounts for the year ended 31st March, 2009.
