Working together with Logging Services of Mumbai, the IPSHEM team was able to revamp the Safety related course modules successfully for the people of Well Logging Operation of ONGC.

Acknowledging the co-operation and support provided by the team of the Logging Services of Mumbai, the GM-Head IPSHEM, Dr. Tarun Chakraborti expressed his gratitude to Mr. Dinesh Chandra, GGM-Head Logging Services, MR for his magnanimity at this juncture for rendering his support to bring out a standardized Safety Training course for Logging personnel of ONGC.

While inaugurating the first Training Program of its kind christened as “Safety in Well Logging Operations” on 30th October 2006, GM-Head IPSHEM informed that during the meeting with HSE Heads of the Organization, held this year, it was felt necessary to introduce a new safety training module for the personnel attached to Well Logging when this Department had been upgrated with the newly changed technology. GM-Head IPSHEM then approached the Head Logging Service, MR who appreciated the idea and came forward to cooperate in framing the modules. The faculty members have been selected from inhouse who possess varied knowledge on the subject with an attitude to volunteer the service as faculty. In certain areas, where the faculty competency level is not to the standard, services from the reputed organizations, like, Jt.Chief Controller of Explosives, AERB,RSD etc have been taken.

GM-Head IPSHEM assured the attending trainees that they would be benefited afterundergoing such well comprehensive trainings wherein they would get ample opportunities to know more about safe handling of Radiological and Explosive gadgets, First Aid, updated Explosive Acts, Risk Assessment etc. He further added that this training will help the people at work, to know more about law and regulations of the country on the use of different technology being practiced in the logging operations.

GM-Head IPSHEM has further told that this program is one of the standardized training programs of the Institute. Over two years of time, the Institute prepared four standardized training programs on HSE taking the co-operation and experienced hands of IDT, NIO, Well Logging Services etc which were critically reviewed by the respective heads of the user-groups before introduction. Another training program for the personnel of Seismic operation is under process for which the help of Seismic Group of MR has been sought.

GM-Head IPSHEM also thanked Mr. S S Bakshi, Head Logging Services, Mehsana and Dr. Debasis De for extending their dedicated services as faculty in the first course.

|
|
The trainees who attended the course appreciated the management for their nominations in such courses where they got enough opportunity to upgrade their knowledge to fit with the adopted technology in their fields of operation. They told that, in valedictory, they are feeling now more confident enough to take courageous action in promoting safety in their working areas.
