ONGC mandates Environment Conservation, implements Rainwater Harvesting
November 19, 2009
ONGC in its recently held EC meeting has decided to implement Rain Water Harvesting in all the existing Residential Complexes of ONGC, across the Country. As a Policy, ONGC has made it mandatory to implement the system of "Rainwater Harvesting" in all the future Projects (new constructions) also.
The objective of the scheme is to replenish the ground water table which is slowly receding due to urban development and excessive & continued exploitation of ground water. ONGC's commitment to such noticeable initiatives of national importance cannot be undermined.
With the concept of triple bottomline getting more relevant and focused, it has been realized that the companies operating in both global and domestic markets are increasingly required to incorporate the social, economic and environmental concerns into their business while building shareholders' value and taking care of stakeholders' interest.
Since its inception, ONGC has been regularly contributing to various initiatives in the areas of health, education, community development and environment protection. In its endeavor to provide sustainable solution to water scarcity, ONGC has focused on "Rainwater Harvesting". ONGC has taken a proactive lead in "Rainwater Harvesting", for sustainable water solutions not only for the organization, but for the nation at large, another step towards environmental bottomline approach.
